Any Plans for Friday?
What plans do you have for yourself this week?
When Friday comes, what do you want to say to yourself about this work week?
You have 5 days ahead of you. How do you intend to use them?
You have been given the opportunity to live these 5 days and live them fully. Do you have a plan of action? Do you have specific steps you want to take that come Friday, you will be able to have a real sense of accomplishment?
Right now you have a choice: Go through the motions or become conscious of your presence here and the change you can bring to your life and to this world. What are you going to choose?
Confused? Not knowing what to do? Here is an opportunity:
Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27 at 7PM (EST), I will have my schedule open and my phone ready. I will be waiting for anyone of you to call me at 732.419.2566 and we will spend the following 40 minutes talking about your life, your goals, your aspirations, your dreams and the first small steps you can take towards them. It is a service that I am giving to you for free! But call me promptly at 7PM. This message is reaching hundreds of people and I will take the first one to call. If you call and reach my voice mail, it is because someone was a bit quicker this time. If this happens, please still leave a message. I do want to know you called!
In any case, I want you to be aware and conscious of the days ahead and the possibilities you have. Take action! Live -- fully! I will touch base again at the end of the week. I would love to find out how it went.
Wishing you a glorious week!

Resolutions!

This is probably a scary word by now, no? Some statistics says that 97% of New Year’s resolutions are forgotten by mid January. Are you part of this number? Have you set some goals or aspirations for 2009 that have already gone down the drain? Whether if it is for the New Year or your life long dream, it takes some effort, support and a good plan to reach those goals and to reach them well. Here some tips:
Be Clear
Do you have a sharp vision of your goal? Have you described to yourself exactly what you are aiming for? A lot of times our resolutions and decisions are so vague and broad that we get lost midway through our journey. Take the time to analyze your aspirations. What does this resolution or goal say about you? What is the bottom line? Go for the details, peel the layers and get to the core of it.
Be Real
Are you planning on losing 50lbs in one week? That’s clearly an exaggeration, but more often than not we set goals that are simply not attainable in the time frame that we expect. This is setting ourselves for failure and with failure comes disappointment and lack of motivation for the next chapter. Make sure you give yourself a challenge but one that you can achieve and will soon post as a victory in your life. No better motivation to move on.
Be Focused
Having a strategy is key! We can have all the best intentions in the world, but if we don’t have a plan, nothing will come out of it? Look at where you are and look at where you want to be in the next few months. Set specific marks to be achieved along the way -- small, manageable steps that will lead you to where you ultimately want to be. Build a plan that works for you.
Be Patient
You will be very disappointed if you expect that everything will change in one day. It takes time to make solid and long lasting changes. Take the time to breathe. Respect yourself. Listen to your body and to your heart.
Be Persistent
Never stop! If the strategy that you made proves to be faulty and weak -- improvise, adjust and keep moving. Never despair! The journey is right in front of you and the steps ahead are yours to take. Use your final dream and your purpose to motivate you. Keep walking -- always.
Be Smart
Yes, you know your dream and you know the journey you must take, but you also know that if you are serious about your resolution, you must find support, guidance, a source of accountability and an impartial outside look at your journey. A professional athlete knows how to train and play his game. He could most likely do it alone. But he also knows that in order to be at his best and at his top performance, he must work with someone that will support, challenge, inspire, encourage and celebrate together with him along the way.
Your New Year’s resolution (or your life long dream) may have become memory by now, but the good news is that you don’t have to wait until 2010 to try again. The opportunity to take the first steps is here -- right now! I can go on and talk about resolutions, goals and dreams forever, but I would much rather talk with you directly. I know you can do this and I don’t want you to ever forget that you are not alone in this task. I’m here to support you and would be more than happy to create a way for us to take this journey together. Yes, we can! Make the first step to change today.

Man on Wire

My friend Brad brought this movie over the other day for us to watch. I had seen it on the Netflix site, got curious, but never rented it. So, it was with lukewarm attention that I began to watch the piece. But boy, was I up for a surprise.
No, the movie as of itself is not great, but its message and the underline reason for this unimaginable feat are simply amazing. My friend’s first reaction in his own words was: “I wish I had half of his passion!”
Man on Wire is the story of Philippe Petit, a French man who in 1974 successfully walked across a high wire between the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers in New York City. (Just to think about it gives me goose bumps!) Talk about balance! While the task itself seems unthinkable, the story and lessons behind it deserve mention and notice. Here some highlights:
Passion
From the beginning of the movie it becomes clear that Mr. Petit knew what he had to do and for many years he trained himself, and took the steps necessary to achieve his dream. There were so many obstacles to overcome, but the energy he had inside and the certainty of his mission kept him going. He was so certain of his goal that he was willing to risk his life to accomplish it.
Focus
At one point in the movie, one of Mr. Petit’s friends describes seeing him train on the wire. His face would transform, become relaxed but somber as if there was nothing around but the wire and the balance of his body. Nothing could distract him. All of his being was present in that particular moment noticing what the wire was giving him, how the air was moving around him and how he could continue with his task.
Team
While it was Mr. Petit that actually walked the wire, it is clear in the movie that he would not have been able to do it without his close friends and colleagues. Not simply because of their moral support, but also and especially on planning and executing the stunt. What is amazing is the commitment that they all had. The team saw in him the importance of this act. They believed in him. They trusted him. They followed his lead. All because of his determination and talent. Mr. Petit’s commitment was so tangible that inspired even the people he had around him.
Walking on a high wire between the world’s two highest buildings may be inconceivable for most of us but to use it as an allegory, what are the high wire’s you may be or are going to walk in your life? How passionate are you about your mission? What plans are you making? What steps are you taking? Do you have the right support to do it?
